Slice the Bhat Kerela ( Teasel Gourd ) and keep them in a bowl . Add the flour to the bowl containing the bhat kerela slices . To this , add the Cumin , Coriander , Chilli and Turmeric powder . Add water to the mixture to form a batter . Be careful not to make the batter very thin or runny . Mix the ingredients well so that no lumps of flour or masala remain in the batter . Then let it stand .
Meanwhile heat the refined oil in a deep wok . Slowly drop the batter covered slices one by one in the wok once the oil is hot . Stir and occasionally turn over the pieces to fry evenly on both sides . Remove them once they turn golden brown .
Put them on tissue paper or newspaper to drain the access oil . Sprinkle chat masala over the fritters and serve them hot . A cup of Assam Tea goes very well with this recipe .
Note : Be careful while dropping the bhat kerela pieces in the oil . Hot oil can cause serious burns .
